Why would I share my story?

Sharing your story can provide validation, support, and inspiration to other parents and caregivers. It helps build a community where lived experiences are valued and voices are heard, contributing to the improvement the health, safety, and well-being of Montana families.

How can I share my story?

You can share your story through our LIFTS Magazine, Mother Love Podcast, HMHB Blog, HMHB Social Media, or Native American Initiatives Outreach. Simply submit your story or idea through the appropriate portal on this page to get started.  If you’re not sure what venue is appropriate, you can submit through the general submissions page or reach out to stories@hmhb-mt.org to connect.

What types of stories are you looking for?

We welcome stories from all Montana parents, caregivers, providers (health care, childcare, social supports, and more) and early childhood advocates.  We seek to amplify the narrative of when getting help helps and how that can turn the challenges of parenting into triumphs.  We also love to share stories of organizations working collaboratively to make the perinatal and early childhood experience in Montana better for all families and supporters. Whether it’s about perinatal mental health, finding support, or daily caregiving experiences, your story can help others feel connected and supported.

Who can share their story?

Any mother, father, caregiver, or family member involved in caring for children from birth to age three in Montana is encouraged to share their story. We welcome stories from all Montana parents, caregivers, providers (health care, childcare, social supports, and more) and early childhood advocates.

Can my story be anonymous?

Yes, you can choose to share your story anonymously. We respect your privacy and will ensure your identity is protected if you prefer.

What happens after I submit my story?

After submission, your story will be thoughtfully reviewed by our team. We may reach out for additional information or to discuss how best to feature your story across our platforms.

Are there any guidelines for submitting my story?

Yes, we recommend keeping your story between 500-750 words. Please focus on personal experiences, insights, and reflections that align with our mission to support and celebrate Montana’s caregivers.

Can I submit photos or videos with my story?

Absolutely! Photos and videos can add a personal touch to your story. You can upload these files when you submit your story online.

Will my story be edited?

We may make minor edits for clarity, grammar, and length. If significant changes are needed, we will contact you for approval before publishing.

Do I have to be a professional writer to be featured on your storytelling platforms?

No! We embrace that most people who are submitting stories to HMHB platforms are NOT professional writers.  If you need help curating your story, we are happy to connect you with someone who can offer guidance and support as you craft your narrative.

Where will my story be published?

When you submit your story, we ask that you use the information on this page to tell us where you think it will be a good fit.  Our team will review and ensure it aligns with our editorial standards. Your story could be featured in LIFTS Magazine, on the Mother Love Podcast, on the HMHB Blog, our social media channels, or as part of our Native American Initiatives Outreach.
