Mother Love Season 4 is Here!

Emily Freeman

The Fourth Season of the Mother Love podcast launched in January 2025, and we’re thrilled to bring you fresh and exciting episodes! Longtime listeners will notice a new voice—Emily Freeman, our new HMHB Storytelling Coordinator and host of Mother Love. As we embark on this new chapter, we’re kicking off the season with two engaging miniseries: A Mining City Story and Session Voices. We can’t wait for you to join us — there’s so much more to come!

A Mining City Story

In this multi-episode series of Mother Love, we spotlight five healthcare providers in Butte, Montana, who recognized the need to do more for moms and babies in their care. Through determination and community collaboration, they expanded resources and services for birthing families, transforming Butte’s perinatal landscape. The series is cohosted with Butte mom, Cass Weber, who experienced this transformation firsthand. Emily and Cass sit down with these nurses and care providers to uncover what they did, why they did it, and the lasting impact of their work. We hope their stories inspire you to seek out—or create—the resources your community needs to help families thrive.

Session Voices

“Session Voices” is Mother Love’s series focused on the 69th Montana Legislative Session. In short conversations, perfect for naptime or a lunchtime power walk, Emily connects with experts, advocates, parents, lawmakers, and other individuals who help to craft and pass the bills that become the laws of our state. The episodes provide a warm and accessible invitation for listeners to think about the political process, and consider not only how to engage with it, but the various forms that engagement can take.

Are you a passionate and innovative provider of services to moms and babies in Montana? If so, we’d love to hear from you, and to consider highlighting your work on a future episode of Mother Love. Or maybe you’re not a provider, but have been impacted or inspired by a project that supports moms and babies in your Montana community, or statewide. Reach out! We’d love to help spread the word, and welcome any and all story ideas at stories@hmhb-mt.org.
